A FiddleKicks performance will entertain
and interest your audience with our wide variety in styles
and presentation. A typical 90-minute program has five
segments, often with costume changes that add interest:
Traditional Appalachian, English Clog, Hybrids,
(a short intermission). Percussive Expressions
and lastly, Home to our Roots.
We perform the old-fashioned way—
to live music. Performances usually include instrumentals
and songs by our accomplished musicians; hamboning —
an African American body percussion tradition; and historical-cultural
narration. The company tailors each show to the venue
and audience. Residency activities include demonstrations,
audience participation, school assemblies, workshops and
master classes. No matter the audience — seniors,
children, families, adults or a mixed crowd — people
love this toe-tapping, high-energy dancing and music.
The after-show audience participation
segment is the audience’s chance to learn some clogging
steps and a short routine. FiddleKicks’ musicians
will provide lively old-time music, and participants will
experience the fun of an activity folks of all ages enjoy.
